Family and Fall

I love family and I love fall. This weekend my family (mom, dad, sis, and bro-in-law) came to visit. We laughed until we cried and ate until we were stuffed. Great times!

While they were here, I wanted to do a little crafting so they helped me with a fall wreath for my front door. I am a simple girl so I did not want anything too over the top. I had the burlap ribbon that I knew I wanted to use along with the letter "B". We headed to Michaels Craft Store and bought the other supplies needed. Notice the leopard print flowers.....I love some animal print. I suggest it be added in someway to every room, even your front porch :). Animal print is considered a neutral you know.

Now that the front door is ready for fall, I will be busy this week working on the rest of the porch.

Did I mention that I love my family? Well on Friday night we learned that our family will be getting a new member. My niece Robyn (aka Katie baby) is GETTING MARRIED.  I am so excited for her and Michael.

As I sit tonight and reflect on this weekend, I can't help but to smile. My heart is happy and full. I am thankful.

Loving Layers for Fall 2014

Fall is in the air and I just love it. It makes me want to ride with the windows down and feel that nice cool breeze blowing through my hair.

Fall 2014 is all about LAYERS. I will show you some images to inspire you with ideas of how you can layer in your home, wardrobe, with your jewelry, and your hair.

Layering in your home:
Layering items in your home is a great way to make it feel warm and cozy. It can be done with pillows, throws, rugs, and art.

Pillows: Pile them on.

Throws: Over a chair, couch, or bed. It is an inexpensive way to add texture to a space.

Rugs: Animal hides and jute rugs work well together when layering.

Art: Layer on walls, bookshelves, and fireplaces.

Layering Clothes:
Cosmopolitan says that if you are going to wear a big comfy top or layers, rock body-hugging pants underneath.

5 Steps to a Perfectly Layered Outfit from Lauren Conrad

  1. Start with a basic, lightweight top. I suggest a solid, something neutral, or striped.
  2. Add another layer such as a soft cardigan or sweater. If you’re into color, this can be a great opportunity to mix in a bold pullover to give your outfit more intrigue and depth.
  3. Then add a jacket or coat. Again, I suggest a basic color: camel, black, navy, or even olive green.
  4. Next, add a scarf. It’s like the frosting on a cupcake. A must!
  5. Sprinkle on your accessories (bracelets, rings, watches).

This Little Light of Mine- Part I

As I was doing my devotion this morning, I read the scripture from the Bible that says, "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl, instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."

The song came to mind, "This Little Light of Mine, I'm Going to Let It Shine." I pray that everyday I will let my light shine....that people around me will see Christ through me.

Now on to man made light - I have shown some b e a u t i f u l lights that we can put in our home to help the light to shine. Some on stands, some to sit on a table, or some to hang. Where ever they are, we do not want them hidden under a bowl...NO! We want these babies to shine, shine, shine.

They also have fabulous napkins, pot holders, and the list goes on. These aprons can also be used in hair salons, florist, or anywhere you need to protect your clothes and yet still look adorably stylish.

Company Overview
This is a true story. It’s about a time before you were born and a story about tomorrow. Helena Steele and her daughter Claire created Jessie Steele for women like themselves, who are now as they have always been — rich in tradition and fearlessly feminine. Honoring the women who came before them, they’ve turned a century of tradition into a wearable story anyone can share, whether you’re putting pie in the window or Champagne on ice. Together we are creating new stories, woven from the threads of a past fondly remembered and lovingly re-imagined, in prints and styles that evoke memories of what home always means.
