H&M Home Decor

Did you know that not only does H&M sell affordable clothing, but they also sell affordable home decor....it's on their online store. www.hm.com

H&M is known for their inexpensive, trendy clothing. Their home decor line is no different. They introduce new items every two weeks.

I think some of these items would be great to purchase to add seasonal touches to your home decor.

Here are some items that are from their online store and as you can see, the price is right.....very reasonable.

I have not yet purchased anything from the on-line store but have heard that most have been impressed with the quality. Have you ordered from H&M home line before? What did you order? Were you pleased with the quality? Let me know, I would love to hear from you.

When Life Gives You Lemons

The other day, I read a status update from my husband (www.philbritt.org). He said, "If life gives you lemons, throw them back".

So many times we have heard the saying, "if life gives you lemons, make lemonade". Well, I'm not a big fan of lemonade. It's just too sour for me. So if life gives me lemons, I don't want to make lemonade. I don't want any sour stuff in my life. I'm going to throw them suckers back and wait for something sweeter.

I do however like the color yellow, especially in the spring and summer.

The color yellow stimulates mental processes, stimulates the nervous system, activates memory, and encourages communication.

You can go bold:

or mellow:

and you can always throw some yellow in a room with a pillow or painted piece of furniture, which is what I recommend. You can use a small amount of yellow to make a big statement.

A Helpful Tip For Bathroom Lighting

Here is a little tip about bathroom lighting and its location.

The best lighting for grooming comes from the side, not overhead. Lights above the mirror cause a shadow on the face, making it difficult to groom and put on make up evenly. Instead, put sconces on each side of the mirror to cast an even amount of light across the face. A rule of thumb is to put sconces 60"-66" from the floor and 30"-36" apart.

I have included some images to help give some ideas.

Interior design by Erin Paige Pitts. Vessel sinks. Wall bumped out to accommodate wall-mounted faucet. Three sconces. Glass tile bounces more light. Photo by Julian Wass for House Beautiful.

Here are some fabulous sconces I found in a wide variety of prices.

Add other lighting as needed, such as recess lighting in the tub/shower area and a ceiling light for ambient light. To gain total control over your lighting, install a dimmer.

Next time you are in a dressing room, pay attention to where the lighting is placed. If it is along the side of the mirror, I bet it will make you look better and therefore buy more clothes.

Don't forget....let your light shine.

Say It With Flowers

Yippeeeee........today is the first day of Spring. Wow, what a winter we have had here in North Carolina. I think schools were closed more than they were open due to winter weather. I love hearing the birds sing this morning and seeing the sun shine.

With today being the first day of Spring, I thought it would be only fitting to bring out the flowers. You can say a lot with flowers. Like, I Love You with red roses, or send your condolences with a Peace Lilly, or you can simply send a mixed arrangement to say, Get Well Soon. What ever the occasions, flowers can brighten your day. So, why not bring those flowers into your everyday living space.

I have created a mood board with some fabulous flower fabric.

In the middle is fabric from Waverly.
Botton left is from Spoonflower.
Bottom middle is from Michael Miller.
Bottom right is a vintage floral from etsy.
Chairs are from One Kings Lane but how simple to find an old cane chair, paint it, and cover it with a nice floral fabric.

Today, don't forget to "stop and smell the roses."

Jenn

St. Patty's Day

Saint Patrick is the patron saint and national apostle of Ireland. St Patrick is credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland.

Saint Patrick’s Day has come to be associated with everything Irish: anything green and gold, shamrocks and luck. Most importantly, to those who celebrate its intended meaning, St. Patrick’s Day is a traditional day for spiritual renewal and offering prayers for missionaries worldwide. www.stpatricksday.com

I'm a German-Irish girl. I have Irish in my blood,.....(as if you couldn't tell with my light hair and skin) and I happen to LOVE the color green, which inspired this mood board.

On St. Patrick's Day, let's remember our missionary friends serving around the world.

Let's also give thanks for our true friends....because a good friend is hard to find.

WORDS

"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will make me go in a corner and cry by myself for hours" - Eric Idle

Words, no matter how you write them or say them, have power. They can build a woman up but they can also tear a woman down.

"Death and life are in the power of the tongue" - Proverbs 18:21
"Pleasant words are like honeycomb, sweetness to the soul, health to the bones" - Proverbs 16:24
"Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing" - Proverbs 12:18

"The words of kindness are more healing to a drooping heart than balm or honey" - Sarah Fielding

"Kindness in words creates confidence" - Lao Txu

"Words have a longer life than deeds" - Pindar

"One kind word can change someone's entire day"

"Kind words can be short and easy to speak but their echoes are endless" - Mother Theresa

"Words are the keys to the heart" - Chinese

"Never underestimate the power of words, words hurt even more than actions" - unknown
