I heart Jonathan Adler

Jonathan Adler first started out as a potter. Now, he designs furniture, lighting, bedding, bath, candles, rugs, and even handbags. He is known for his hip, retro, and colorful designs.
He approaches design with modernist forms & bold
graphic patterns.

Here is a mood board I created inspired by Jonathan Adler with products that he has designed.

He has stores in 26 locations including NY, Boston, Dallas,
and Atlanta.

You can refresh your home with some of his glam details and
chic accessories. I have spotted some of his designs in Marshall's so
stay on the look out!!

Snow Days

I'm a girl from the coast. I love the beach but I also love cold weather and snow. This week has been the BEST. We got snow!!

Everything in our small town shut down so we loaded up the family and off to the hills we went for some sledding. Poppy Joe found the perfect spot.

My talented friend Abbie Franklin from CARTERelite Photography captured some images of our fun.

I have been so thankful for this week. Fun times with great friends are priceless and we have truly made some great memories.

Jake and his buddy Aiden                                                             Phil and Jake

Abbie and Allie wiped out, therefore adding some warpaint to the face.

Phil and Jake getting a push from Al                                                   Allie and Ava

Alaina and I.......we are now butt buddies because we bruised our tailbones while sledding! OUCH.

It was a wonderful sight this morning when I looked out of my bedroom window and saw this impression of a snow angel. It was created by my little angel.

The song is ringing through my head "I am blessed. I am blessed. Everyday that I live I am blessed. When I wake up in the morning 'til I lay my head to rest, I am blessed. I am blessed.

TRENDING

I love to decorate with trendy items. You can take a traditional room and freshen it up with some trendy items like pillows, a new rug, or some accessories and it can give it a brand new look.

Some of the trends from 2013 were chevron pattern, gold, Greek key pattern, animal heads, and bamboo. Will these items stick around for 2014?

I think some certainly will. Some items that will be hot for 2014 are dhurries (which are flat, woven floor coverings), brass curtain rods, and sheep skin (rugs, pillows, and even furniture).

Some other items are:

-A touch of yellow in your space.

-The color Radiant Orchid, like on the pillow. It's Pantone's color of the year. Try incorporating in your space with a throw, a pillow, and a piece of art work.

-Hides, hides, hides, of every kind. Rugs, pillows, and furniture. I love it, love it, love it!!!!!!

-Anything knit, like the basket pictured above or with pillows and throws.

-Faceted lamps. They are geometric in shape and look great in bright colors.

-Nailhead trim furniture. To me, this is timeless.

-Round mirrors.

-Ikat pattern, like on the Radiant Orchid pillow. The pattern is not new, but it is great enough to stick around.

-Feathers, like pictured on the pillow above. You can also use them in art work.

-Global items, like the Kantha throw pictured above.

-Brass is the new gold. Brass is being paired with wood in coffee and side tables. Loving this look too.

Ultimately, it's about what you love, not what is trending. Surround yourself with the things you love and most of all, with the people you love. That will make a beautiful, happy home that will never go out of style.

Thank you bhg.com, elledecor.com, houzz.com for the inspiration.

Where do we go from here?

I'm sitting on the floor of my empty dining room as I write this thinking, where do we go from here?

The past couple of months, we have had to trust the Lord with all of our hearts. Leaning not to our own understanding, praying for Him to direct our paths and to show us the path of His purpose. How fitting is it that, Proverbs 3:5-6 is the yearly verse for Jake and Allie's school (Wake Christian).  We have the verse written on our chalkboard by our side door and we read it each morning before we leave for school and then we see it on the banners when we drive into their school. It has been a constant reminder to TRUST.

Trusting is hard, especially when you do not know where to go from here. We stepped out in faith from monthly income, we sold our house (in 8 days) and as of tomorrow, we have no place to live. Two uhaul trucks are sitting in our driveway with no where to go come tomorrow at 11:00am when we sign the papers to close. We have prayed and searched for the next house, but nothing! Not sure why God has not opened that door but, we must trust. This is indeed the scariest thing that we ever done. We took a huge leap of faith and have to keep reminding ourselves that although in our eyes, our future is unknown, God knows and is working it out for our good.

I am incredibly thankful for our friends. They have been such an encouragement to us. Just today, the kind words of a friend through a facebook message was just what I needed to hear. And, the Dunkin Dounuts that were dropped off at our house tonight made me cry (I know, I'm weird). But all of this has showed me how blessed we are to be loved.

So, where do we go from here? We shall see.
