I Am WONDER Woman

Wonder Woman.....I can hear the theme song ringing in my head.

I am Wonder Woman! A woman of WONDER that is. Do you ever ask yourself "I wonder how I'm going to get my to do list done today" | "I wonder how I am going to be at one place at one time when I'm suppose to be at another at the same time" | "I wonder how my kids are going to turn out" | "I wonder what my friend thinks of me" | "I wonder what I'm going to cook for dinner" | and lately I've been wondering how in the heck I'm going to get all these design projects done | etc....etc...etc...

So yes! I would say I am WONDER Woman. I had Wonder Woman underoos when I was a little girl and sometimes I just wish I could put them on and get everything done!! Wouldn't that be a sight!

Well this past birthday, my husband and kids gave me this card.
Wow. It made me WONDER how I can successfully be all these things. As wives and moms (and even you husbands and dads), we are expected to always be there, to help in trouble, and do amazing things. Sounds like a little pressure to me...hahaha.

But thankfully, we don't have to do it alone. I am reminded of the scripture in Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength."  Joyce Meyer simply states that this scripture does not mean that we can do anything someone else does (like change into a costume and become Wonder Woman) , but, that we are able to do whatever God assigns us to do.

Be encouraged today that the Lord is with you. Remain positive and remain in the boundaries of what He has called you to do. He knows exactly what you need and He will be faithful to provide it.

The next couple of weeks I will be sharing about things we WONDER about. Please join me as we look into the truths from the Bible that will help us be all that God wants us to be!!

What's In Your Foyer

A foyer, in a home, is usually a small entry area or room by the front door. Other rooms such as a family or dining room usually attach to it along with a main stairway. It is commonly used for outerwear storage and umbrellas for both residents and guest.

A foyer is the "first impression" of a home. You want it to be inviting, but yet be functional. Keep it clean, fresh, and clutter free because it sets the tone for the rest of your house.

In this design project, I had to create a foyer that had the following:
storage for coats, shoes, keys, mail, umbrellas, a place to sit, and a mirror to check your appearance before heading out the door. The design style I was given was "shabby chic".

My finish board included the floor plan, elevations, and design elements.

What I came up with was a 90 sq. ft. basic foyer. There were no closets so I added coat racks, baskets for shoes, and an umbrella stand for storage.

I added a 6' refurbished table with drawers to hide the keys and all of the unwanted junk mail and a bench for sitting to put shoes on and off.

For the walls, I added 8" wood planks and the flooring was hand scraped maple hardwood to give it an old shabby chic feel. Art work, a rug, and a chandelier were added touches to enhance the look.

My favorite additions were these French style prints to hang over the bench and this Andalusia Dhurrie rug from West Elm. I'm in love with them both.

So, when designing your foyer, keep these things in mind:
Keep it CLEAN!
Add a table, seating, storage, personal touches and design elements. Be creative and again, keep it CLEAN and clutter free. You want your guest to feel welcomed and wanted.

I'm In Love

I'm in love!
I'm in love with this dresser turned gold dipped tv console featured on Burlap and Lace.
                                Before:

                                After:

Shannon painted the dresser a sleek semi-gloss white, and then she taped off the bottom and legs and gave them several coats of Martha Stewart paint in Vintage Gold. The graphic black and white pillows just add the deliciousiness. It's just simply yummy!

This will be my next project....soon and very soon.
